Hello and Welcome to my portfolio!
I'm Chanda Golani, a Masters in Information Technology student from Rochester Institute of Technology. As an IT student, I specialize in Web development and Database development. Currently, I am working as a Part-time Web Developer at Greenleaf Media and Internet Technology Specialist for International Technology Group. I am working to redesign and reprogram websites on different CMS Systems.
I also work on part-time telecommuting contracts from Madison, WI doing Drupal programming, Google analytics, Search engine optimization (SEO) and/or regular HTML/CSS development. I have been a Web developer for more than 3 years and I am actively working on many different CMS systems such as Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress, Ektron, X-cart, ExpressionEngine and phpBB.
I am a very creative and hard-working person. I have excelled some of the web-development skills such as HTML, XHTML, DHTML, CSS and JavaScript. On the other hand, I have also excelled Database concepts in Oracle, MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server 2005. For, designing wonderful images I generally use GIMP or Adobe Photoshop. I am always on a quest for learning new technologies.
As a developer I have spent the past three years working with various companies doing internship, part-time and freelance work. These companies include Greenleaf Media, NimbleUser, Intercon Associates, Chrysalis, ITG, SFUW and SelectAustin.
My goal in web development is to make a clean, elegant, accessible and user-friendly website
A bit More About Me
I’m Chanda Golani! I was born and raised in the Vadodara city, which is a part of state of Gujarat, India. I had interest in computers and its related technologies since childhood. Due to my interest in the field of computers, I started my Bachelors degree in Information Technology at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Technology (SVIT), India. My interest in Information Technology grew and I became Lecturer in SVIT, IT department. Being a student and a lecturer in the same college was a totally different experience for me. I felt, that I needed a bigger pond to increase my horizon and expertise.
Here, I am in RIT working on completion of my capstone project, which is the last milestone of my MS-IT degree. My major concentrations at RIT are Web Development and Database Development. RIT has helped me to develop my interest and innovation in the field of IT. After one year of coursework at RIT, I started doing internships at local companies in Rochester, NY. Since then, I have been servicing various clients as a Web Developer through freelance projects, internships or part-time projects. Since then I have been learning to code and develop in numerous languages such as JavaScript, PHP, HTML, XHTML, CSS, learning new technologies to make websites more practical and efficient. Gradually, I started learning more database courses to ensure that I had the required knowledge to make a website content driven from a database.
As part of our IT program, I was allowed 2-3 internships in order to gain expertise in the knowledge I gained through studying different courses. Over the course of these internships, I learned to implement various Content Management Systems, getting my hands dirty with different techniques. This area has now become my prime focus and I aim to become a high-level expert in this area.
